Sunshine and showers were the order of the day for this year’s International Autojumble, held on the 7th and 8th September, but despite the shortcomings of the weather, the genial atmosphere for which this event is renowned was still very much in evidence.

August 15th, 1973 – the day British Leyland announced the MG BGT V8.

It wasn’t the first time a larger engine had been shoe-horned into the MG, the MGC had featured a straight-six lump but sales of the ‘C’ were disappointing and the car lived a relatively short life.
